Terms of service
On this page
EventKit is run by Sohil Bansal. By using EventKit you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use it.
Who may use EventKit
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you should have a parent's or guardian's permission before you use EventKit or sign up for a shift.
Your account
You sign in with Google or with Apple. Your account is yours alone, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Tell us at sohilban27@gmail.com if you think someone else is using it.
You can delete your account at any time in Profile. If you own an organization, deleting your account deactivates that organization and cancels its upcoming shifts that still have volunteers on them, and everyone holding a place is informed. The app names those organizations before you confirm. The privacy policy says what is removed and what stays.
What EventKit is, and what it is not
EventKit is a place for organizations to post volunteering shifts and for volunteers to find them. We do not organize any shift, we are not an employer, and we do not check the organizations that use EventKit or the people who sign up.
Any arrangement about a shift is between you and the organization. That covers what the work is, whether you are suited to it, whether training or a background check is needed, what happens if you do not turn up, and how your hours are recorded. Hours shown in EventKit are what the organization recorded. If they are wrong, ask the organization.
If you run an organization on EventKit
We approve every organization on EventKit before it is created, and approving one is not our endorsement of it. If you create one:
- You confirm you are allowed to act for it.
- What you publish must be accurate, and the shifts you post must be real volunteering opportunities.
- You are responsible for the volunteers who sign up with you and for the information they give you. Do not use a volunteer's contact details for anything other than the shift they signed up for.
- Some of your volunteers will be under 18. Treat their information accordingly, and follow whatever law and safeguarding rules apply to you.
Acceptable use
There is zero tolerance for abusive, harassing, hateful, sexual, threatening, discriminatory, illegal or deceptive content and behavior on EventKit. Do not post it, and do not behave that way towards anyone you meet through EventKit.
Also do not:
- post anything that is not a genuine volunteering opportunity,
- impersonate a person or an organization,
- collect other people's information for anything other than a shift they signed up for,
- try to break, overload or get around the app's security,
- use EventKit to advertise or to sell anything.
Reporting and hiding
Report anything that breaks these rules from inside the app. There is a Report action on a listing and on an organization's page, and what you send is recorded for us.
Hiding is the part that takes effect at once. Hide an organization and it, along with everything it posts, leaves your feed immediately. The button sits next to Report on the organization's page.
We can suspend or close any account that breaks these terms, and we can remove any content, at any time.
Content you post
What you post stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to store it and to show it to other people using EventKit, which is what makes the app work. You are responsible for having the right to post it.
No warranty
EventKit is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will be free of faults, or that anything published on it is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of EventKit, or for anything that happens between you and an organization or another person you meet through it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using EventKit and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms.
Changes
We will update these terms when EventKit changes. The date at the top says when they last changed. Using EventKit after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Massachusetts. Any dispute is settled in the courts of that state.
